Women’s Tennis Narrowly Drop Road Match to Cal State Fullerton

FULLERTON, Calif. – Friday morning the Pacific women's tennis program played its match down to the final court but came out on the wrong side of a 4-3 decision to Cal State Fullerton.

The Tigers (0-7) took an early lead thanks to doubles triumphs on courts two and three. Junior Leyanne Hirota and sophomore Maggie Hoe clinched the doubles point for Pacific with their fourth match as a pair this season – they lead the team in doubles wins. Juniors Milena Maiorova and Indiya McLeod won for the first time together this season on court two following a comfortable 6-2 win.

Singles brought with it a trio of Titans (5-2) straight set wins that were immediately answered by two Pacific wins that knotted the match at three points each. Maiorova came back from a set down to win her second singles match of the season. Meanwhile McLeod comfortably handled her opponent on court two to record her team leading fourth singles win of the season.

Junior Nahreen Cheam on court four was edged out in a closely contested match to give Cal State Fullerton the win.

Pacific has a quick turnaround, taking the court again on Saturday to face UC Irvine to finish out the team's Southern California swing. Doubles is set to begin at 10 a.m. on the campus of UC Irvine.
