STOCKTON, Calif. – The Pacific baseball program dropped the second game of the series to Utah Tech by a 2-1 margin on Friday night at Klein Family Field.
The Tigers (3-3) and Trailblazers (6-1) battled in a tight contest that ultimately went to the way of the visitors, thanks to a two-out run in the seventh inning that proved to be the difference.
Both starters on the mound were sharp in their second nods of the 2026 campaign. Redshirt junior
Garret Plata dealt a career-long 5.0 innings of one-run ball while striking out eight Trailblazer hitters on the night. Plata is now up to 18 strikeouts on the year. Junior
Brady Wilson (1-1) came on in relief of Plata and allowed just one run in four innings with three strikeouts.
Sophomore
Diego Davis produced the lone multi-hit performance by the Tigers on Friday evening, going 2-for-3 with a pair of singles. Freshman
Peyton Richards recorded a sacrifice fly for his first career RBI, scoring redshirt sophomore
Robert Orr.
A solo home run by the Utah Tech lead-off hitter kicked off the scoring in the top of the fourth. Pacific responded in the home half of the frame on Richards' sacrifice fly.
Defense prevailed until the seventh inning when the Trailblazers capitalized on a first-and-third situation with a two-out knock to take a 2-1 lead.
Pacific had the tying runner on base in the bottom of the seventh and eighth innings, but Utah Tech ultimately prevented the game-tying run from crossing home, resulting in a 2-1 final score and an even series at one game apiece.
The Tigers and Trailblazers will square off in the rubber match tomorrow with a 1 p.m. scheduled first pitch from Klein Family Field.
