STOCKTON, Calif. – A comeback bid came up short for the Pacific baseball program, falling 8-5 to Utah Tech in the series finale on Saturday afternoon at Klein Family Field.
The Tigers (3-4) trailed by seven runs before the offense kicked into gear, but the Trailblazers (7-1) ultimately hung on to earn the result in the rubber match.
Senior
Grant MacArthur crushed his first home run of the 2026 campaign, a three-run blast that gave Pacific life in the bottom of the fourth inning and cut the deficit at the time to 7-4. Redshirt sophomore
JT Shank compiled another two-hit performance, roping a pair of doubles with a run and an RBI.
Junior
Regan Carter (0-2) turned in his second start of the season on the mound, going 3.1 innings and allowing five earned runs on five hits with three strikeouts.
Utah Tech did the majority of its damage early on, scoring three in the third and four in the fourth inning to jump out to a 7-0 lead.
Pacific answered back with a four-run spot in the home half of the fourth and added one more in the fifth, getting the home team within reach at 7-5 through five.
The Trailblazers picked up an insurance run in the top of the sixth inning on a RBI groundout, making the score 8-5 and proving to stand as the final result of the Saturday matinee.
The Tigers look ahead to closing out their season-opening eight-game homestand on Tuesday night, welcoming Sacramento State for the first of five meetings in 2026. First pitch is slated for 6 p.m. from Klein Family Field.
