MTEN Recap vs. Sac State 2026

Tigers Hold Off Sac State Rally for Fourth Win

STOCKTON, Calif. – Graduate Terence Das clinched the match for Pacific men's tennis with a three-set triumph on singles court three as the team was able to stave off a Sacramento State rally for the 5-2 win Sunday afternoon at the Eve Zimmerman Tennis Center.

Heading into the final two courts of singles play the Tigers (4-3) held a 3-2 advantage but second set losses on courts two and three gave Sac State (3-4) an opportunity to come from behind and steal the win. However, the graduate got the break he needed to seal a 6-4 win in set three that closed the door on the Hornets comeback.

Junior Christof Schaertlin Coffey on court two also emerged 6-4 in set three to bring the final score where it stood.

Prior to their heroics, sophomores Jonty Giesen and Nico Rating comfortably handled their opponents in straight sets on courts one and five that put Pacific on the brink of winning the match.

The doubles half of the match went much smoother for the Tigers who rode to wins on courts one and three for the early 1-0 lead.

In the coming week the team will finish off the final two matches of the three-match homestand, hosting UNLV on Friday and Nevada on Sunday. Pacific defeated UNLV on a neutral court last season and bested the Wolf Pack in 2023 during their last meeting.
