TEMPE, Ariz. – Pacific was kept at bay in all six innings of its final appearance at the Littlewood Classic, falling to host Arizona State 8-0 at Farrington Softball Stadium Sunday morning.
Despite the team's down day offensively, redshirt senior
Olivia Silvestre continued to swing a powerful bat, logging her WCC leading sixth double of the season. The two-bagger was also her third consecutive game with an extra-base hit. Her 15 doubles last season landed her eighth in the program's single season record book and right now she is on pace to more than double that total, expected to hit 34 doubles after this weekend – which if she were to hit that mark would set a new school single season record.
Sophomore
Peyton Clifford recorded Pacific's (1-9) other hit of the afternoon, and the sophomore was able to swipe her second stolen base of the season.
The pitcher of record on the game was sophomore
Alexa Lewis, who dropped to 0-1 after going 0.1 innings issuing three runs (two earned) on four hits. Junior
Justice Alcaraz spun the majority of the game for the Tigers, lasting 4.1 innings with two runs conceded, both earned, on six hits. She also walked one. Freshmen
Sophia Lambaren and
Carley Mulcahey also appeared in relief.
The team returns to action next weekend for the Mustang Classic in San Luis Obispo, hosted by Cal Poly. The Tigers play five games next weekend from Friday-Sunday, comprised of host Cal Poly twice, Sacramento State, San Jose State and Manhattan College.
