Sotomayor’s Scorching Double Secures Walk-Off Win Over Wolverines

STOCKTON, Calif. – Junior Levi Sotomayor played hero for the Pacific baseball program on Sunday afternoon, driving in the game-winning run to earn a 3-2 victory in ten innings over Utah Valley at Klein Family Field.

In what was just his second at-bat of his Division I career, Sotomayor's first Pacific hit was roped down the right field line, scoring senior Grant MacArthur from first base to push the Tigers (2-2) past the Wolverines (2-2) in the series finale.

Sunday's victory marks the first time the Tigers completed a walk-off victory in extra innings since April 20, 2024, when Pacific defeated LMU by a 4-3 score in ten innings.

Redshirt junior Carson Revay (1-0) pitched strong in his second relief outing of the season, throwing 2.2 scoreless innings with four strikeouts. Redshirt junior Dylan McShane made his Pacific debut as the starting pitcher, striking out three Wolverine batters in 3.1 innings.

UVU opened the scoring with a lead-off solo home run on the second pitch of the day and tacked on a run in the top of fourth inning to hold a 2-0 early lead.

The bats were quiet for most of the game for Pacific until the seventh inning where the Tigers rallied for a two-run spot. Small ball proved effective for the Tigers in the frame as senior Rylan Evans earned an RBI walk. MacArthur would later score in the inning on a wild pitch to tie the contest up at 2-2.

In the bottom of the tenth inning, MacArthur drew a two-out walk, setting up Sotomayor's walk-off smash to secure the 3-2 win.

Taking the final two games and settling for a series split, the Tigers now have an 8-6 all-time record against the Wolverines.

Pacific will continue its season-opening homestand, welcoming Utah Tech for a three-game series next week at Klein Family Field, beginning at 6 p.m. on Thursday.
