Rosa Extends Scoring Streak as Tigers Fall to Seattle

STOCKTON, Calif. – Kaya Rosa continued her impressive offensive stretch, scoring her team-leading seventh goal of the season as the Pacific women's soccer team battled Seattle in a narrow 2-1 decision Saturday afternoon at Knoles Field during Homecoming Weekend.

Rosa converted a penalty kick in the 84th minute, marking her sixth goal in her last seven matches and extending her scoring streak to three consecutive West Coast Conference contests.

The Tigers (1-11-1, 0-3-1 WCC) showed resilience throughout the afternoon, continuing to push offensively despite facing a two-goal deficit early in the second half.

The Redhawks (9-4-2, 3-1-0 WCC) opened the scoring in the 35th minute when Kailee Wilson found the back of the net, giving her team a 1-0 advantage entering halftime.

The visitors doubled their lead just 36 seconds into the second half as Kyla Schuster scored to extend Seattle's advantage to 2-0.

Despite the deficit, Pacific remained aggressive offensively, generating opportunities throughout the second half. The Tigers earned four corner kicks after halftime and placed five of their six shots on target during the contest.

Pacific's persistence was rewarded in the 84th minute when Rosa stepped up to the penalty spot and delivered her seventh goal of the campaign, cutting the deficit to one.

The senior's latest scoring effort continued an impressive stretch that has established her among the West Coast Conference's leading offensive performers. Rosa has scored in each of Pacific's last three conference matches against Portland, Santa Clara and Seattle, accounting for six goals over her last seven appearances.

Defensively, freshman goalkeeper Ava Wells collected three saves, including two in the second half, helping keep the Tigers within striking distance.

Up next, the Tigers will remain in Northern California and face San Francisco on the road at Negoesco Stadium on Saturday at 6 p.m.
