WBB Preview vs. Saint Mary's 2026

Women’s Basketball to Host Saint Mary’s as Conference Play Continues

STOCKTON, Calif. – Beginning the second half of the regular season, the Pacific women's basketball program hosts Saint Mary's on Thursday at 6 p.m. looking to break a small two game slide.

Through the opening two weekends of conference play, both Pacific (7-8, 2-2 WCC) and Saint Mary's (10-7, 1-3 WCC) have seen much overlap in their opponents – with similar results. Both squads fell to Portland and Oregon State but defeated San Diego. The difference comes in Pacific's win over Seattle and the Gael's loss to Pepperdine.

Senior Sydney Ward has been one of Pacific's most dependable players in this stretch, averaging 10.5 points per game and 7.5 rebounds per game in four conference games, the latter stat of which ranks fifth in the WCC. On the season she leads the team on the boards averaging 5.6 per game.

The last time the two schools met on the court was in Las Vegas for the WCC Conference tournament where the then seventh seeded Tigers upended the sixth seeded Gaels 74-59. In that game, junior Marina Radocaj was one of the driving forces behind the win putting up 12 points, nine rebounds and two blocks. Ward was equally effective with a nine-point, eight rebound, two block, three steal performance.

Should Pacific emerge victorious it would knot the series at 24 wins apiece and give the team a 12-10 advantage in Stockton.

In 11 games at the Spanos Center this season Pacific is averaging 70.3 points per game with strong shooting clips – averaging 43% from the floor and 32.8% from beyond the arc. Sophomore Winner Bartholomew has played her best basketball at home, averaging 13.1 points per game. She is also the team's leading scorer on the season averaging 12.5 points per game.

Tipoff from the Alex G. Spanos Center is set for 6 p.m. and will be broadcast on ESPN+.
