No. 17 Pacific Topped by No. 4 Cal

BERKELEY, Calif. – In its first road game of the season, the 17th-ranked Pacific women's water polo program dropped a 25-9 outcome to No. 4 Cal on Saturday at the Spieker Aquatics Complex.
 
Pacific (1-1) fell behind early but outscored the Golden Bears (6-0) in the fourth quarter, 4-3. Six different Tigers scored a goal in the match.
 
Freshman Eleni Ikonomou led the way with a hat trick, while her sister Maria Ikonomou scored a pair. Junior Anna Crum, junior Ella Cowan, sophomore Olivia Turney and freshman Sophie Pethers all found the back of the net once.
 
Sophomore goalkeepers Laurel Cooper and Lillian Ecklund each played a half in net. They combined to make five saves.
 
The Tigers will play four games next weekend at the Arizona State Tournament in Tempe, Arizona. Pacific's next home game is Saturday, March 7 at 5 p.m. against UC Davis.
