STOCKTON, Calif. – On Sunday, the Pacific women's tennis program nearly climbed out of an early doubles point deficit but instead fell 5-2 to Fresno State at the Eve Zimmerman Tennis Center.
Junior
Leyanne Hirota and sophomore
Maggie Hoe continued their hot start to the season on doubles court three by claiming their second victory in as many matches. However, close matches on courts one and two went the way of Fresno State (1-0), forcing Pacific (0-2) into the comeback position.
The singles portion very nearly went Pacific's way, as juniors
Indiya McLeod and
Nahreen Cheam were able to pull out victories on courts two and five – both of their first wins of the season. Courts one and four gave the Tigers a fighting chance as junior
Milena Maiorova and graduate
Cindy Ung took their opponents decisive third sets but could not put together enough runs to take the matches.
The homestand continues for Pacific heading into the weekend, hosting Idaho on Friday and then Nevada on Sunday, both rematches from last season.
Both matches will take place at the Eve Zimmerman Tennis Center and be live streamed on Track Tennis.
