Pacific Blasts Oregon State for Largest WCC Win Since Rejoining League

STOCKTON, Calif. – Clicking on all cylinders, the Pacific men's basketball program pounded Oregon State 84-53 Friday to improve to 6-0 at home this season at the Alex G. Spanos Center.

It was the largest West Coast Conference margin of victory for the Tigers (10-6, 1-2 WCC) since rejoining the league in 2013-14. It surpassed Pacific's 83-58 win at LMU last season. The last time the Tigers won a WCC game by over 30 points was March 6, 1971 when they beat Saint Mary's 116-71.

Pacific led Oregon State (8-8, 1-2 WCC) for over 38 minutes in the game, shot .540 from the floor and a whopping 12-of-23 (.522) from three-point range. The Tigers got out to a 15-point halftime advantage and never saw their lead dip below 20 points in the final 15 minutes.

Senior Elias Ralph led the way with 24 points and made a career-high 10 free throws where he was 10-of-10. He was limited to 22:40 minutes as he rested for the majority of the second half.

A scorching hot night came from senior TJ Wainwright as he was 5-of-6 from three-point range and netted 17 points. His five three-pointers were a season-most.

A season-high 15 points came from senior Jaden Clayton of 5-of-6 shooting and he also distributed seven assists. Senior Justin Rochelin submitted eight points and matched his career-high with eight rebounds.

The Tigers outrebounded the Beavers 38-25 and limited them to a .358 shooting night. Pacific also cashed in at the free throw line where it was 18-of-24.

Oregon State led after the first minute but it was quickly wiped away as Wainwright drilled a three to put the team up 9-5. Still ahead 17-13, the Tigers went on an 11-0 run to make it 28-13 which included a field goal from senior KC Ibekwe.

The last time the Beavers got the deficit into single-figures was the 1:47 mark of the first half after a jumper by Johan Munch trimmed it to 40-33. Pacific ended the half on a 9-1 spurt as Wainwright drilled a deep three with seven seconds left to give the team a 49-34 edge at the break.

The Tigers pushed the lead up to 59-38 with 15:06 left in the second half after a lay-in by Ralph. A three by Clayton extended it to 68-41 with 11:03 to go.

Pacific's lead eclipsed 30 points as Ibekwe backed his way in for a field goal to make it 75-44 with 7:57 remaining. The largest lead of the game was 84-49 after Kublickas hit a free throw with 2:20 left.

Munch and Keziah Ekissi lead Oregon State with 12 points apiece.

Pacific will remain at home Sunday when it concludes the weekend with a 4 p.m. game against Pepperdine. The Tigers are 43-39 all-time against the Waves and 22-13 at home.
