MALIBU, Calif. – The Pacific women's basketball could not find any rhythm offensively in Thursday's WCC game against Pepperdine, ultimately falling 53-71 at Firestone Fieldhouse.
The Tigers (7-10, 2-4 WCC) surrendered the opening five points of the contest and never put together enough momentum to pull any closer than three points the rest of the night. As a team, Pacific shot 34% from the field (19-for-56) and 3-for-17 from beyond the arc – both marks that were eclipsed by Pepperdine (11-7, 2-4 WCC), going 27-for-62 (44%) from the field and 35% from three (7-for-20).
The cold night was despite the efforts of sophomore
Winner Bartholomew who put up a team high 19 points on an efficient 7-for-14 from the floor and a perfect 5-for-5 at the free throw line. Bartholomew also contributed five rebounds.
Fellow post player senior
Sydney Ward found success as the game wore on, tallying Pacific's first double-double of the season (ten points, ten rebounds). The senior shot 4-for-8 from the court and knocked down both free throw attempts. On the defensive end, Ward tallied blocks number 83 and 84 of her career, giving her sole possession of sixth place in program history.
Sophomore
Daria Nestorov continued to excel passing the basketball, racking up five more assists on the night. A top-55 passer national entering the game, she now has 82 assists on the season.
The Tigers return home for the next contest, hosting the LMU Lions on Saturday at 2 p.m. That game will be streamed on ESPN+.
