Men’s Basketball Plays First WCC Home Games against Oregon State, Pepperdine

STOCKTON, Calif. – Tipping off the new year at home, the Pacific men's basketball program hosts Oregon State at 7 p.m. Friday and Pepperdine at 4 p.m. Sunday at the Alex G. Spanos Center.

The Tigers (9-6, 0-2 WCC) are 5-0 at home this year with four by double-figures. They start the weekend against an Oregon State (8-7, 1-1 WCC) squad that begin league action at home with a loss to Santa Clara 102-64 and win over San Francisco 70-62.

The Tigers are looking to shake-off an 80-71 defeat at LMU where they led for more than half the game. The Lions made enough plays down the stretch and hit free throws at the end to create separation.

Despite the 0-2 start, the Tigers outrebounded both San Diego and LMU. Pacific ranks 26th in the country in rebounding margin with a +9.3 mark.

Senior Elias Ralph, a WCC Preseason All-Conference Team selection, is coming off back-to-back double-doubles against the Toreros and the Lions. He leads the conference ranks 25th nationally in minutes (34.9), and ranks top-five in the league in scoring (16.8 ppg), rebounding (6.8 rpg), field goal percentage (.484) and free throw percentage (.883).

Senior TJ Wainwright averages in double-figures with 13.4 points per game. He's hit a three-pointer in 14 of 15 games this season. Wainwright has scored at least 15 points in each of the last three games and in four of the last five outings.

Senior Jaden Clayton ranks 36th in the country in assists with 5.7 per outing. He dished out eight in both WCC games last weekend at USD and LMU. Clayton scores 7.7 points per game with a season-high of 15 against Stony Brook.

Senior Isaac Jack records 9.1 points and 6.3 rebounds per outing and shoots a team-high .720 from the floor. He tallied 15 points and 16 rebounds at Cal, and followed it up with 20 points and 10 rebounds against Simpson University.

Oregon State is led by Josiah Lake II who averages 14.2 points and 4.9 rebounds per game. He netted a season-high 23 points at Arizona State in the team's final non-conference game.

Pepperdine (5-10, 0-2 WCC) had a tough opening weekend with home defeats to Gonzaga 96-56 and Saint Mary's 72-45. Aaron Clark and Javon Cooley score 13.3 points apiece.

Both games this weekend can be watched live on ESPN+ with Zack Bayrouty and Kat Tudor as the talent, and can be heard on Fox Sports AM 1280 with Dennis Ackerman on the calls. Oregon State is Tudor's alma mater where she was a four-year letterwinner on the women's team.
