RENO, Nev. – The Pacific volleyball program held leads in each set, but ultimately fell in four sets (25-27, 25-23, 26-28, 24-26) to Nevada Friday night at the Virginia Street Gym.
Graduate
Olivia Keller led the way offensively for the Tigers (4-3) with 17 kills and a .310 hitting percentage, her most efficient outing since opening day. She also flirted with a double-double, adding eight digs to her final line.
Claiming her second career double-double in the match, however, was sophomore Aly Cox. The sophomore swung for 11 kills, one off her career-best, and 18 assists. On her 17th assist of the night, Cox reached 100 in her career. An effective server as well, Cox added two more service aces to her season total, now sitting at 12.
The service ace was once again a large component of Pacific's offense, out serving Nevada (3-4) 9-7 and brought the team's season total to 60. Cox was not alone though shining on the service line, as both senior
Jayhlin Swain and sophomore
Alessia Couchond logged multiple aces at three and two respectively. For Swain, this is now the third match in a row in which she's had multiple service aces while for Couchond she's served at least one ace in six of Pacific's seven matches this season.
The duo also left a mark on the match in other areas with the former logging 12 digs and the latter 22 assists, both tied for the team lead in each category.
Swain did share the team lead in digs with freshman
Bella Gutierrez, who's 12 digs represent a new career high and the second time she's eclipsed double digit digs.
Sophomore
Olga Gergacz made her collegiate debut during the match, two kills and five digs in two sets of action.
Pacific finishes its weekend in Reno with a neutral court match against Eastern Washington tomorrow at 10 am on the Mountain West Network. In the series history, the Tigers are 2-0 versus the Eagles.
