Game Recap: Women's Volleyball |

Pacific Serves Up Victory in Weekend Finale

NORTHRIDGE, Calif. – The Pacific volleyball team was lethal from the service line, tallying 11 aces to lead the Tigers past Idaho State in five-sets (27-25, 25-21, 23-25, 18-25, 15-9) at the Premier America Credit Union Arena to leave The Ridge Invitational 2-1 on the young season.

Led by sophomore Alessia Couchond's four service aces, Pacific (2-1) served up its most aces a team since 2023 while the former's four individual aces doubled her career-best, set in the previous match against CSUN. Coming into the weekend, the sophomore had one career ace to her name but is leaving Northridge with seven.

Fellow sophomore Alyson Cox tallied her own career-high in the category, contributing three. She and Couchond lead the team in aces at six and seven respectively for the season.

By contrast, the Tiger defense only conceded two Idaho State (0-3) aces, due in large part to Couchond again. While the sophomore's ten digs did not lead the team, that honor belonged to senior
Jayhlin Swain and her 19 digs, the Italy native did secure her first career double-double of 28 assists and ten digs. With the pair leading the charge defensively, Pacific committed a season low three reception errors. As a team, the Tigers out dug the Bengals 75-63.

Turning back to the offensive side of the court, freshman Hannah Koester paced the Tigers in kills for the second consecutive match, this time adding 12 to her season ledger. She was joined by Cox, who also notched 12, and in the process more than doubled her previous career best (five versus LMU in 2024).

In addition to the duo sharing 12 kills, they each also dug double digit balls as the former notched her first career double-double while for the latter the digs were just one part of her first career triple-double (12 kills, 12 digs, 18 assists).

Joining Koester and Cox as featured parts of the Tiger attack, senior Logan Blutreich reached ten kills for the first time in her career, eclipsing a previous career best set in 2022.

Freshman Chloe Grever made her collegiate debut during the match, appearing in set four.

The Tigers return home from Northridge only to head out to Statesboro, Georgia at the end of the week for the Eagle Invitational, hosted by Georgia Southern. From September 5-7, Pacific will take on host GSU as well as Mercer and UNCW – all three brand new opponents to the program. The first match of the invitational takes place Friday at noon against Mercer.
