Tigers Hit the Road to Face Roadrunners

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – The Pacific women's soccer program completes its August slate with a road match at Cal State Bakersfield Thursday at 7 p.m. at Main Soccer Field.

The Tigers (1-2-1) carry a two-game unbeaten streak into the contest against the Roadrunners (0-4) after securing a 2-2 draw in their first road game of the 2025 campaign at Cal Poly on Sunday.

Fifth year Aniela Jensen, graduate student Taylor Curtis and sophomore Sierah McCallum each hold a share of the team lead in goals with one apiece. Curtis scored the game-tying goal on a penalty kick in the second half of the 2-2 draw last time out.

The Tigers have scored two of their four goals this year on a penalty kick with Jensen credited with the first one against the Aggies.

McCallum, Pacific's leading returning scorer from 2024, scored the Tigers' opening goal of the season and is tied for the team lead in shot attempts (8) with Curtis and freshman Janelli Villagran. The trio are tied for fourth in the West Coast Conference in that category through four contests.

On defensive side of the ball, graduate student Juliana Alexander leads the WCC with 25 saves across four starts in goal. Alexander, a native of Bakersfield, California, recorded a career-high ten saves in her most recent performance against the Mustangs.

Alexander is tied for the league lead with one shutout to her name after earning a 1-0 clean sheet victory over Utah State at Knoles Field last Thursday. Her .781 save percentage ranks sixth in the WCC among qualified goalkeepers.

For the Roadrunners, Thursday's contest marks their home opener after four straight contests on the road to begin 2025. Cal State Bakersfield has opened the season with one-goal losses at California, San Diego State, Weber State and Idaho State. The Roadrunners were tabbed to finish last in the Big West preseason coaches' poll.

CSUB has its lone goal of the year from Daniela Osejo, who tallied the marker in the effort at Weber State. Kamy Amaya, who earned a spot on the preseason All-Conference team, has conceded five goals on 57 shots faced. Amaya has 17 saves on the year thus through four games.

The Tigers and Roadrunners clash for the seventh all-time meeting between the two programs with the first match-up dated on September 23, 2007. Carrying a 4-2 all-time record in the head-to-head match-up, Pacific goes south to Bakersfield for the first time since the 2018 season where the Tigers were on the wrong side of a 2-1 decision.

Both teams most recently met in 2019 where the Roadrunners narrowly won by a 2-1 margin at Knoles Field. Pacific seeks its first road victory at CSUB since 2008.

The game will be broadcasted live on ESPN+ with a scheduled 7 p.m. kick-off time.
