HOUSTON – The Pacific men's soccer program dropped a 4-0 decision to Houston Christian Sunday night at Sorrels Field.
In the second all-time meeting between the two programs, the Tigers (0-2) and the Huskies (1-0) generated limited quality scoring chances, but it was the home team that capitalized four times with four different goal scorers across 90 minutes for the result.
Of the Tigers' greatest opportunities to score, sophomore
Ezekiel Padilla was credited with a pair of shots on goal on four attempts through 56 minutes on the pitch. Senior
Luca Baltzer and sophomore
James Andrew also each recorded a shot on target.
In his second career start in goal, junior
Mateus Ruiz-Hurst made five saves in the effort defensively, including four of those in the second half.
Along with Ruiz-Hurst, senior
Matteo Carbone, sophomore Muharif Adbul-Kadir, Baltzer and graduate student
Ignacio Flores III each played the full length of the match.
The Tigers fly back to Stockton and will regroup for their home opener next week, welcoming Utah Tech Sunday at 7 p.m. at Knoles Field.
