McCallum Strikes Goal in 2-1 Defeat to UC Davis

STOCKTON, Calif. – On a windy night in Stockton, the Pacific women's soccer program's attempt of a comeback fell in a 2-1 decision to UC Davis on Sunday at Knoles Field.

The Tigers (0-2-0) mounted the offensive pressure late in the match, showing fight in search of the game-tying goal, but ultimately dropped their second game of the 2025 campaign to the Aggies (1-1-0).

"I'm really proud of our fight and our effort," Pacific head coach Jeff Freeman said. "We improved significantly from Thursday night. This team continues to grow in their belief and effort together. We're going to win a lot of these games that are tight like this. I'm excited for what it's going to look like for this group moving forward. We just have to keep taking it one day at a time."

Sophomore Sierah McCallum scored the Tigers' first goal of the season, leveling the match at one goal apiece with a strike to the lower left corner in the 38th minute. The goal marked McCallum's second of her career at home in front of the Tigers' faithful and fifth of her career overall. McCallum logged two shots total in 55 minutes of action.

Fifth year Aniela Jensen set up McCallum on the Pacific first-half marker, sending the ball through the Aggies' defense for McCallum to rush in and score. Jensen collected her first assist since November 4, 2023, when she collected five points that day.

Graduate student Juliana Alexander drew in her second consecutive start of the season for the Tigers in goal, making four saves across the match. Three of her four saves came in the first half, which kept the score tied at one goal each.

The Aggies opened the scoring in the tenth minute to take a 1-0 lead and responded to McCallum's tally three minutes into the second half, holding on for the 2-1 result.

While the shot attempts favored the Aggies by a 13-8 margin, Pacific had three more corner kick attempts, including one in the final ten minutes of the contest that nearly set up a game-tying goal.

Pacific looks to wrap up its season-opening three-game homestand on a high note, hosting Utah State on Thursday at 7 p.m. at Knoles Field.
