Saint Mary’s Completes Sweep of Pacific Sunday

STOCKTON, Calif. – The Pacific baseball program rallied in the middle innings, but could not complete a comeback over Saint Mary's, falling 11-5 on Sunday afternoon at Klein Family Field.

Despite a jubilant Star Wars theme throughout the ballpark, the Tigers (18-30, 6-12 WCC) battled through to the finish line, but the Gaels (26-20, 10-8 WCC) ultimately came up with the series sweep.

Senior Drake Bicknell and freshman Diego Davis gave the Tigers a new hope in the middle frames, collecting multi-hit performances in a spirited effort at the plate. Senior DJ Scott ran around the bases twice in his 1-for-3 day at the dish. Fifth year John-Howard Bobo continued his success at the plate in conference play with another hit.

Senior Ethan Shaver was summoned for his second start of the year, going 2.0 innings. Redshirt sophomore Carson Revay went the longest in relief, throwing a season-high 4.2 innings out of the bullpen with five strikeouts.

Saint Mary's struck first with a six-run second inning and tacked on three more to jump ahead 9-0 after a trio of visiting frames. The Tigers struck back with a four-run fourth inning and added one more in the fifth inning to make the score 9-5, in favor of the Gaels.

The Tigers had numerous opportunities to rally back further, but the formation of completed comeback attack fell short in the 11-5 decision.

Pacific will continue its season-long eight-game homestand, welcoming California to Stockton for a Tuesday tilt next week at Klein Family Field. First pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m. PDT.
