STOCKTON, Calif. – Junior
Olivia Silvestre hit homeruns number seven and eight during Saturday's doubleheader against Oregon State, entering the program single season top-ten list to highlight a valiant effort despite a 6-1 loss in game one and 6-2 loss in game two at Bill Simoni Field.
GAME 1
Silvestre's big blast came in Pacific's (16-33, 5-9 WCC) very first at bat of the game, going the other way over the left center field wall. Of her now eight homeruns this season, four of them came out of the leadoff spot for the junior. Her entrance to the single season top-ten list marked the first Tiger to do so since
Rian Dirmeyer's nine in 2022.
Going into the final game of the regular season, Silvestre is hitting .406 on the season, which would rank fourth all-time in a single season and the first player to hit over .400 since Nikki Armagost and Megan Hom in 2012.
Following the big fly, the Pacific lineup was kept mostly in check, garnering only a single hit after the third inning.
Senior
Desiree Smith started the game in the circle and was the Tiger pitcher of record. She went 2.1 innings and gave up four runs on eight hits – dropping to 2-8. In relief of Smith, freshman Alexa
Lewis spun 4.2 innings of two-run softball, conceding five hits and two walks.
GAME 2
Reprising her role from game one, both runs scored came off Silvestre's bat, hitting a two-run homer in the third inning to take a 2-1 lead. The homer punctuated a three-RBI afternoon and moved her into a tie for second place with 26 on the season. Her afternoon moved her over 100 total bases on the campaign, becoming Pacific's first student-athlete to eclipse the century mark since at least the 2010 season. Silvestre is also the only player in the West Coast Conference with 100+ total bases.
Alexa Lewis continued where she left off from game one as well, earning the start and lasted five innings and struck out three batters in addition to five runs allowed on nine hits and three walks.
Sophomore
Justice Alcaraz gave up a run in her two innings of work alongside three hits and two strikeouts.
