SANTA CLARA, Calif. – The Pacific baseball program came up short of a sweep on the road, falling in the series finale to Santa Clara, 7-2, Sunday at Stephen Schott Stadium.
The Tigers (18-26, 6-9 WCC) tallied a pair of solo home runs on the afternoon but could not catch up to the early offense of the Broncos (16-23, 5-10 WCC).
Graduate student
Brian McClellin and senior
DJ Scott represented the Tigers' duo to go yard in the third game of the series. McClellin crushed his solo shot in the top of the fourth inning for his third home run of his 2025 campaign.
Scott manufactured his second home run of the season with his blast down the left field line in the top of the sixth inning. For Scott, it was his first home run since he hit the walk-off home run on the season-opening 2-1 victory over UC San Diego at Klein Family Field.
Redshirt junior
Nathen Nino (1-1) made his fourth start of the season, going 2.1 innings. Senior
Jarryd Wood and redshirt sophomore
Carson Revay fired scoreless innings in relief appearances.
The Broncos struck early, scoring twice in the opening frame and adding three more in the bottom of the third to go up, 5-0. Pacific chipped away with the home runs, but SCU held on for the 7-2 victory to claim the series finale.
Looking across the weekend's three games, the Tigers ultimately won their third straight conference series, marking the first time that feat has happened since 2014.
Pacific returns home to begin a season-long, eight-game homestand, starting with Fresno State on Tuesday night at 6:05 p.m. PDT at Klein Family Field.
