SAN JOSE, Calif. – A back and forth affair between Pacific and San Jose State at the Spartan Softball Complex ended with Pacific conceding a walk-off triple to San Jose State and dropped the road contest 5-4 on Wednesday evening.
Junior
Amanda Bricker and senior
Delaney Scully both tied their season-high three hits to lead the Tigers (11-20). Two of Bricker's three hits plated runners, including the game-tying triple in the sixth – the first triple of her Tiger career.
Scully's RBI also came on an extra base hit, a double to left center for her team-leading 21st of the season. At her current pace she will finish with 33 RBIs this season.
Those two were not Pacific's only multi-hit efforts on the evening – freshman
Alyssa Garcia notched two hits for the second time in as many games and knocked her fourth run batted in of the season.
Junior
Olivia Silvestre continued her torrid season with a hit, walk and stolen base to aid the Tiger effort. As a team Pacific tallied ten hits registered just the second time all season the team has lost when notching ten or more hits.
Taking the loss for Pacific was freshman
Kiley Shea, falling to 2-3. She threw the final four outs and only conceded the one run. Sophomore
Justice Alcaraz recorded her 16th start of the season, tying her for the conference lead in the category. She spun the first three innings of the contest and gave up one run on three hits and a walk – she also struck one out.
The Tigers open up West Coast Conference play in their next game, hosting Saint Mary's over the weekend. The first two games will be played as a doubleheader on Saturday starting at noon and then conclude the series Sunday with a single game at noon. All three games are available on ESPN+.
