STOCKTON, Calif. – For the second time this season, the Pacific baseball program fell to Cal State Bakersfield at home, dropping a 7-0 contest on Tuesday evening at Klein Family Field.
The Tigers (14-24) tossed up two tough innings that ultimately proved to be the difference in the Roadrunners (15-23) securing the decision. Cal State Bakersfield takes the season series by a 3-1 total.
Senior
Drake Bicknell knocked three doubles as part of Pacific's offensive production at the plate. Junior
Jake Tandy also recorded another multi-hit performance in his 2-for-4 night.
Redshirt junior
Austin McKinney (0-1) made his first start of the season, going 1.2 innings with a strikeout. Junior
Evan Moll pitched the longest with 2.0 scoreless innings in relief.
Once again, the Tigers could not solve CSUB's Jack Leary, who threw four scoreless frames followed by the Roadrunners' sharp bullpen and defense. Lewis Barnum's second-inning three-run home run set the tone for the visitors as they went on to win the contest by a seven-run margin, thanks to the addition of four runs in the seventh.
The Tigers now look ahead to a West Coast Conference series at home against San Francisco, beginning Thursday through Saturday. Thursday's and Friday's games will be at 6 p.m. PDT while the series finale begins at 1 p.m. PDT.
