SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Sophomore
Justice Alcaraz and freshman
Alexa Lewis each spun gems, but were both outdueled by Santa Clara in a 3-0 game one loss and 4-3 eight-inning game two loss at the Santa Clara Softball Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
GAME 1
Alcaraz surrendered all three of Pacific's (12-25, 1-4 WCC) game one runs but managed to strand nine Bronco (25-14) runners on base and was around the strike zone the entire game, walking only a single batter. With the loss she dropped to 8-6 on the season.
The Tiger offense came alive late, managing to load the bases with two outs in the seventh and bring up junior
Olivia Silvestre with the opportunity to put the team one run ahead of Santa Clara. However, she would unfortunately ground out to second to end the game.
Silvestre was one of Pacific's two hits in the contest and tallied one of the team's two stolen bases on the contest. The other hit belonged to senior
Delaney Scully and the other steal to freshman
Presley Barnes – which was the first of her collegiate career.
GAME 2
Barnes provided an early spark to game two, getting the Tigers out to a 1-0 lead in the top of the first off an RBI single. She ended the contest as one of the most dangerous bats of the game, going 2-for-3 at the plate and worked a walk to total three times on base.
Pacific's other prolific bat in the game came with junior
Amanda Bricker and her third inning homerun to left field to double the Tiger lead. The blast was her now team leading sixth home run and draws another homer closer to cracking the Pacific single season top-10 (tenth place is eight, last done by Sydney Lahners in 2018). Like Barnes, she also finished the contest 2-for-3 at the dish with a third time on base via the walk.
Freshman
Peyton Clifford broke a 2-2 tie in the fourth inning with an RBI single to centerfield. The team finished with nine hits on the game from seven different Tigers.
Alexa Lewis meanwhile in the circle provided her most effective outing since February, lasting five innings and giving up only three runs and striking out three Broncos. Her now 31 strikeouts on the season overtook senior
Desiree Smith for the team lead.
Lewis however did not factor into the decision as senior
Hannah Glad was in the circle when the game went into extra innings and surrendered the decisive run. Until that point she had successfully navigated 2.1 innings of scoreless softball.
Combined with her game one appearance and the senior put in 3.1 innings of one-run softball in relief of the starting pitchers.

Pacific concludes the series with a single game on Sunday, starting at noon. The game will be broadcast on ESPN+.
