LOS ANGELES – After a weekend off from competition, the No. 23 Pacific women's water polo program will play two matches in two days when it squares off with No. 13 LMU at 6 p.m. Friday at the Burns Aquatics Center, followed by a 1 p.m. Saturday match against No. 21 Cal Baptist at the Lancer Aquatics Center.
It will be a pair of Golden Coast Conference matches for the Tigers (7-5, 1-0 GCC), who opened league play with a 20-14 win over Concordia University Irvine on Feb. 21. Junior
Dora Alaksza broke the school record for goals in a game with 11, which came on 13 shots and she also recorded three assists and five steals.
Alaksza leads the team with 52 goals on the season, averaging 4.3 per outing. She's scored on 57.1 percent of her shot attempts.
Senior
Hila Futorian is the squad's second leading scorer with 26 goals and 19 assists. Sophomore
Ella Cowan has distributed a team-high 21 assists to go along with eight goals.
LMU (11-9, 1-0 GCC) started conference play with a 27-12 win over Azusa Pacific. The Tigers are 16-12 all-time against LMU and have won 12 of the last 15.
Cal Baptist (9-11, 0-1 GCC) fell to No. 20 San Diego State 22-14 in its conference opener. Pacific is 17-11 all-time against Cal Baptist and has won 12 in a row. Last year, Alaksza tallied four goals and three assists in a 14-11 victory.
Pacific's next home match is Sunday, March 16 when it hosts No. 4 UCLA at 12:30 p.m. at the Eberhardt Aquatics Center.
