STOCKTON, Calif. – On Sunday, the Eve Zimmerman Tennis Center will host the Battle of the Tigers when Pacific men's tennis hosts 17th ranked Princeton at 1 p.m. But before Princeton comes to town, the team will have to navigate Montana on Wednesday at 1 p.m.
In the most recent rankings, the Tigers (5-5) moved up to No. 59 after defeating Oregon 4-3 over the weekend. And the last time Montana (8-1) made the trip down to Stockton, the Tigers easily dispatched the Grizzlies 7-0 in 2009.
Sophomore
Christof Schaertlin Coffey and graduate
Ran Amar also earned their way back into the national doubles ranking at No. 86. The duo is coming off wins on court one over both South Florida and Oregon during the past weekend.
Junior
Tiago Silva enters the week's slate of matches 7-2 on court three doubles and has won five of his last six appearances.
Sunday's match with Princeton (15-4) is the first meeting between the two schools. The Tigers are 2-1 against ranked competition this season, most recently upending nationally ranked GCU on its home courts and picking up a neutral court win over UNLV.
Despite the impressive record, Princeton has struggled in true road matches this season, going only 3-2 and is its first match outside the eastern time zone since Jan. 19 at Wisconsin.
Silva will be a key piece for Pacific's chances in the singles portion, as will freshman
Vraj Patel, as the duo tie for the team lead with four singles wins apiece.
