SPOKANE, Wash. – The Pacific baseball program dropped its series opener to Gonzaga, 8-1, on Friday night at Patterson Baseball Complex.
The Tigers (10-17, 0-4 WCC) could not solve the Friday starter of the Bulldogs (10-13, 3-1 WCC) in the first road contest of West Coast Conference play.
Junior
Jake Tandy continued his success at the plate, adding another hit to his impressive third-year campaign. Senior
Jarryd Wood came off the bench and knocked in a run for Pacific with a two-out single.
Redshirt senior
Josh Souza made his first start of the 2025 campaign, going a season-high 4.1 innings with one strikeout. Junior
Brett Mallett was effective in his relief appearance, pitching 2.0 scoreless innings.
Gonzaga's Finbar O'Brien was sharp in his conference home-opening performance, throwing eight innings of one-run ball.
The Bulldogs did most of their damage in the middle innings that ultimately led to the home team taking the series opener. Josh Hankins and Hudson Shupe collected back-to-back home runs that aided the Gonzaga offense.
The Tigers look ahead to game two of the series on Saturday with a first pitch slated for 6 p.m. PDT.
