STOCKTON, Calif. – Off to a 1-0 start in the West Coast Conference, Pacific men's tennis hosts Gonzaga on Friday at 1 p.m. at the Eve Zimmerman Tennis Center before heading down to Los Angeles for a match with LMU on Sunday at 11 a.m.
Against Gonzaga (9-5), the Tigers (9-6) are a perfect 6-0 in Stockton since 2010-11. In the last home meeting against Gonzaga in 2023, junior
Terence Das and graduate
Ran Amar teamed up to clinch the doubles point for Pacific before Amar breezed to a singles win on court two to aid the effort. Junior
Tiago Silva scored the match winning point on court four with a straight set win.
Currently for the Tigers, freshman
Jonty Giesen and senior
Justas Trainauskas are a duo to watch in doubles having won five of their last seven matches and remain unbeaten since Feb. 22.
Sunday's matchup with LMU (5-10) is a traditionally competitive matchup for Pacific, pulling a 6-6 record with the Lions since 2009. Last season versus LMU, the Tigers stormed back in singles to overcome the early doubles deficit. Silva and Amar both scored points in that comeback victory on courts two and five.
A win for the Tigers would be the first in Los Angeles since 2015. Courts one, two and six have been a recent strong suit in singles for Pacific as whoever has been on courts one and two have each won the last three matches and court six has emerged victorious in the last five.
Friday's match with Gonzaga will be livestreamed on track tennis and have live stats via ion court.
