Pilots Float by Tigers Sunday

STOCKTON, Calif. – The Pacific baseball program fell 8-0 to Portland in the series finale Sunday at Klein Family Field.

The Tigers (10-15, 0-3 WCC) kept it close with the Pilots (8-15, 3-0 WCC) all afternoon behind a strong pitching performance from senior Jakob Guardado. Portland picks up the sweep in the West Coast Conference home-opening weekend.

Redshirt sophomore Andrew Sloan extended his on-base streak to 15 games with a single while senior Drake Bicknell collected a single for his fifth straight game with a hit.

Guardado was dominant for the majority of the matinee, going 7.0 innings with a pair of strikeouts. It was the second longest outing of the season for the native of Tustin, California.

On the other side, Portland's Ryan Rembisz was effective with his pitch count, throwing 7.0 innings of scoreless ball with seven strikeouts.

The score was 2-0 Pilots through eight innings before Portland turned up the heat with six runs in the top of the ninth that ultimately put an end to the series.

The Tigers have an off day before heading to San Jose State for a midweek contest Tuesday. First pitch is slated for 6:05 pm.
