Box Score STOCKTON, Calif. – Clutch performances in both singles and doubles cemented a 4-3 win for the No. 65 Pacific men's tennis program over No. 51 Oregon on Saturday at the Eve Zimmerman Tennis Complex.
 
After the match was delayed an hour, the teams agreed to play singles before doubles. The singles portion was knotted 3-3, forcing a doubles point to be played. The clinching match came at No. 3 doubles where juniors Tiago Silva and Terence Das broke serve to win 6-4.
 
The Tigers (5-5) were ahead in all three doubles matches to close it out. Senior Justas Trainauskas and freshman Jonty Giesen won 6-4 at the No. 2 position, while graduate Ran Amar and sophomore Christof Schaertlin Coffey were on the verge of winning with a 5-3 advantage on court one.
 
It came after a hotly contest singles outing that got started with a straight-set 6-4, 6-1 win at No. 6 by Schaertlin Coffey. Pacific went up 3-1 overall after wins on the top two courts as Silva and Trainauskas recorded unbeaten days. Silva won 7-6 (6), 6-4 on court one and Trainauskas won 3-6, 6-2, 6-2 on court two.
 
Oregon (8-4) battled back and pulled out a pair of three-setters that could have gone either way on courts three and five to level the match.
 
It was just the second win in school history against Oregon with the first coming on March 12, 2005 as the two programs have played 16 times.
 
Up next, the Tigers remain home to face Montana at 1 p.m. Wednesday. They will remain at home next Sunday at 1 p.m. on Free Pizza and Popcorn day against Princeton. Pacific has won three of its last four matches with victories over Oregon, UNLV and Grand Canyon.
