SANTA CLARA, Calif. – The No. 20 Pacific women's water polo program will play two matches in two days as it heads to Santa Clara for a 12 p.m. match Saturday before hosting No. 4 UCLA at 12:30 p.m. Sunday at the Eberhardt Aquatics Center.
Pacific (8-6, 2-1 GCC) moved up one spot in the national Collegiate Water Polo Associate Top-25 this week. It came after defeating No. 21 Cal Baptist in its last outing 13-11.
Saturday will be the last of a three-game road swing for the Tigers. They'll face a Santa Clara (4-9, 0-1 GCC) squad that dropped its conference opener 24-8 to No. 10 Fresno State.
Junior
Dora Alaksza leads the team with 61 goals on the season, which is the second-most in the conference. She's tallied a goal in every game this season and is coming off a seven-goal outing in the win at CBU.
Sophomore
Ella Cowan has distributed a team-high 28 assists and has scored 10 times. Senior
Addison McGowan has grabbed a team-high 14 steals and has recorded 19 goals.
Pacific has won 11 in a row against SCU and leads the all-time series 20-9.
Pacific will play its second home match of the season Sunday after beating Concordia University Irvine 20-14 in the home opener. Alaksza broke the school record for goals in a game with 11 on that day, and leads the team with 61 goals on the season.
The Bruins (13-3, 3-0 MPSF) are the defending national champions. It will be the 28th meeting all-time between Pacific and UCLA, and the Tigers are going for their first-ever win in the series history.
