DAVIS, Calif. – Three Pacific pitchers combined to allow four hits, tied for the second fewest all season, but fell victim to a 2-1 walk off loss to UC Davis at La Rue Field Tuesday afternoon.
Senior
Desiree Smith and freshman
Alexa Lewis spun some of their best softball to date this season in the circle in relief. Smith navigated the middle two innings of the game giving up a one run on a singular hit and two walks – she also struck out two. Lewis meanwhile worked the last 2.2 innings with similar success, only allowing one run on three hits and two walks and struck out two.
Lewis was Pacific's (9-13) pitcher of record on the afternoon, moving to 1-3.
Sophomore
Justice Alcaraz played the role of opener for the Tigers for her third appearance in a row, lasting two innings with no runs nor hits allowed.
The Pacific offense was concentrated between the top four hitters in the lineup, led by junior
Olivia Silvestre's three hits out of the lead off spot. The three-hit effort is her 11th multi-hit game of the season and third in a row. She also holds a nine-game hitting streak with a batting average of .479.
Unsurprisingly, Silvestre scored the lone Tiger run of the game, coming around to score off the bat of junior
Amanda Bricker in the first inning. The junior infielder has been on a tear at the plate, notching five RBIs in the past six games.
Senior
Nina Davis collected the other two Pacific knocks on the game, going 2-for-3 at the plate – it's her second multi-hit game of the season.
With the conclusion of this five-game road swing, the Tigers return to Bill Simoni field for their next five games, beginning Saturday with a doubleheader against Idaho State at noon followed by the series finale on Sunday at 10 a.m. A double header with Boise State next Tuesday wraps up the homestand.
All five games are slated to be streamed on ESPN+.
