STOCKTON, Calif. – Junior
Olivia Silvestre added two more games to her hitting streak, but the Pacific softball program ended up on the wrong side of a 5-1 and 4-2 doubleheader with Idaho State Saturday afternoon at Bill Simoni Field.
Now with an eleven=game hitting streak, Silvestre homered over the centerfield fence to lead off game one and then singled in game two to reach her current mark. Entering today's contests, the junior outfielder ranked tied for 24th in the nation in batting average (.479) as she has also reached base in 23 of Pacific's (9-15) 24 games this season.
Of Silvestre's four homers now this season, three of them have come as lead off homers.
Right behind Silvestre in total hits for the afternoon was freshman
Presley Barnes who collected two hits in game two, one of which was an RBI. The freshman has been especially dangerous hitting within the confines of Bill Simoni Field as five of her six RBIs this season have come at home. She also currently holds a .385 batting average at home this season.
Junior
Jordan Hayes also drove in a run, her sixth on the season.
Making her third at-bat of the season, senior
Aly Waltermeyer notched a pinch-hit single to lead off the Tiger seventh in game two for her first collegiate hit.
Senior
Desiree Smith and sophomore
Justice Alcaraz both took their fourth losses of the season as the pitchers of record in games one and two respectively.
On Sunday, Pacific rounds out its three-game series with Idaho State (17=8) to conclude the home portion of the Big Sky/WCC Challenge. First pitch from Bill Simoni Field is scheduled for 10 a.m. on ESPN+.
