SANTA CLARA, Calif. – After completing the most successful January of Head Coach
Bradley Davis' tenure (6-2 record), the Pacific women's basketball program heads to Santa Clara on Thursday at 6 p.m. at the Leavey Center before returning home to host Pepperdine on Saturday at 1 p.m. in the Alex G. Spanos Center.
Pacific (11-12, 7-6 WCC) is going for season sweeps over both Santa Clara (12-11, 6-7 WCC) and Pepperdine (8-13, 3-9 WCC). The Tigers beat the Broncos 75-64 at home, and ousted the Waves 58-43 on the road.
Against Santa Clara, the Tigers will be going for the first regular season sweep of the Broncos since the 2014-15 season. When these teams last saw each other, sophomore
Marina Radocaj led Pacific to a 75-64 win after scoring a career-high 19 points. A win for the Tigers would also be the first time they have won consecutive games against Santa Clara since the 2019-20 season.
Senior
Anaya James is a player to watch as she continues to close in on a career 200 steals. Entering the week with 192 steals, she would become the fifth Tiger in program history to reach that milestone – assistant coach
Valerie Higgins is one of the four that have currently eclipsed 200 career steals.
Pacific is going for its third consecutive regular season sweep over the Waves. The Tigers have enjoyed massive success against Pepperdine inside the Alex G. Spanos Center, boasting a 12-1 career record in Stockton with that one loss coming in 2001. The prior match-up saw Pacific dominate the Waves defensively, holding them to a season low 43 points.
Graduate
Liz Smith is a player to watch as she moved into the top-3 in career free throws made. She currently sits at 385 free throws made, and over the next seven games needs 15 to pass former Tiger Julie Szukalski (1986-90) for second place and 40 free throws to pass
Valerie Higgins for most in Tiger history.
The Tigers are riding a four-game home winning-streak.
Both matches will be broadcast on ESPN+.
