Schnabel Hits Grand Slam in High-Scoring Defeat to Seattle

SEATTLE, Wash. – Sophomore Braeden Schnabel crushed a grand slam as part of Pacific's late scoring surge, but the baseball program ultimately came up on the wrong side of a 10-9 decision to Seattle Friday afternoon at Bannerwood Park.

The Tigers (6-4) tacked on two four-run innings, sparking the offense behind the bats of Schnabel and fifth year John-Howard Bobo in the series-opening effort against the Redhawks (1-8).

Schnabel turned in his best performance as a Tiger to date, hitting his first career hit as a grand slam during a rally that brought Pacific within a run in the fifth inning. The grand slam marks the first grand slam by a Tiger since junior Jake Tandy hit one against San Francisco on April 26, 2024.

Bobo, senior DJ Scott and freshman DJ Scott each strung together multi-hit performances.

Redshirt junior Logan Drummond made his third start of the season, going 1.1 innings. Redshirt sophomore Carson Revay (1-1) was given the result while striking out four Redhawk batters in 3.0 innings.

Reid Madariaga (1-0) earned the win. Tyler Peterson and Jake Wagoner powered the Redhawks' offense throughout the contest.

The Tigers opened the game with a 1-0 lead on a sacrifice fly before Seattle countered with the next six runs through three innings.

After first three hitters reached base safely, Schnabel drilled his first career home run to right field to bring Pacific within one, 6-5.

With the Tigers down 8-5 after five, Pacific rallied with four runs on four hits, capped by Bobo's two-RBI single to give his team a 9-8 edge.

Seattle was able to bring home the two final runs in the following frame, bringing the score to 10-9. The Tigers threatened to score more in the late stages, but the Redhawks got out of them and held on for the result.

The Tigers and Redhawks will clash in game two of the series tomorrow with a 2 p.m. first pitch.
