Softball Takes Three of Four at CSU Bakersfield Tournament

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – Pacific scored decisive 5-3 and 9-0 wins over Montana and a 7-2 win over CSU Bakersfield while dropping only a 6-5 decision to CSUB at the CSU Bakersfield Tournament Friday and Saturday at the Roadrunner Softball Complex.

Often powering the Tigers (6-6) were the combination of junior Amanda Bricker and senior Emma Dazell. The former hit three homeruns over the weekend and drove in seven runs while the latter collected seven hits and scored six runs with a homer of her own.

Bricker's performance over the weekend rose her batting average to .308 on the season and the three consecutive homers match her with junior Olivia Silvestre for the team lead – who also hit her three homers in consecutive games to open the season. Last season with Pacific, Bricker had only two extra base hits period and now has four just five appearances into the season.

Both Silvestre and Bricker lead the West Coast Conference in homers this season and are two of five players to have hit multiple home runs this season and the only pair of teammates to do so.

Dazell's weekend was an extremely efficient one as her seven hits came across 13 plate appearances to give her a .538 batting average at the CSU Bakersfield Tournament. Similar to Bricker, the senior rose her batting average 65 points from .364 entering the weekend to .429 after Saturday's two games.

Meanwhile in the circle, sophomore Justice Alcaraz spun two complete game wins and only allowed three earned runs across both starts. She improved to 4-1 on the season and lowered her season ERA over a point down to 2.80, which is good for sixth in the conference and her four wins tie her for the conference lead in that stat.

Finally returning to Bill Simoni Field next weekend, Pacific hosts the Libby Matson Classic from Feb. 28-Mar. 2. The three-day event will see the Tigers play five games against UC Davis, UC Riverside and San Jose State. BYU will also attend the event but will not face the Tigers.
