Pacific Heads to USF before Returning Home to Host Portland Saturday

SAN FRANCISCO – Wrapping up a three-game road stretch, the Pacific men's basketball program will travel to War Memorial at The Sobrato Center to face San Francisco at 7 p.m. Thursday before returning home Saturday to host Portland at 4 p.m. at the Alex G. Spanos Center.

Pacific (9-20, 4-11 WCC) is 1-1 on the road trip thus far, which included a win at LMU. On the flip side, San Francisco (21-7, 11-4 WCC) will play its first home game after playing three consecutive road games. The Dons are 15-0 at home this season.

Pacific will look to avenge an 89-81 defeat to USF in the first meeting this year in Stockton as the Tigers led as late as the 3:22 mark of the second half before the Dons were able to pull away in the end. The closely contested match-up featured nine ties, 10 lead changes and a lot of offense as both teams shot over 50 percent from the field. Junior Elijah Fisher totaled a game-high 25 points on 9-of-15 shooting and 6-of-7 from the line.

With 169 assists this year, junior Lamar Washington is nine away from tying the school's single-season record of 178 set by Leonard Armato in 1973-74.

In the win at LMU last week, Pacific posted its largest margin of victory in a WCC road game since the school rejoined the league in 2013-14. The Tigers trailed by nine late in the first half when it ended the frame on an 8-0 run, then started the second half by scoring the first 14 points go make it a 22-0 spurt.

Washington tallied 31 points, a career-high 10 rebounds, six assists and matched a career-high with five steals. The last time the Tigers won a conference road game by at least 25 was Jan. 22, 2011 when it topped UC Davis 87-54 in a Big West game.

On the season, Pacific has been led by the Canadian duo of senior Elias Ralph and junior Elijah Fisher, who average 15.5 and 15.1 points per game, respectively. Both are shooting over 48 percent from the field.

On Saturday, the Tigers will also be out for vengeance against Portland (10-17, 5-9 WCC) after dropping a very tight 81-84 decision in overtime on Jan. 16 on the road. Washington came one rebound away from the program's first-ever triple-double with 14 points, 12 assists and nine rebounds.

Pacific is 29-17 all-time against the Pilots and 19-5 at home.
