NORTHRIDGE, Calif. – Pacific scored 10 of its 12 runs after the fourth inning to complete an extra innings comeback win over the CSUN Matadors, capping a 3-2 weekend at the CSUN Matador Classic and a split of Sunday's doubleheader with CSUN and Seattle.
GAME 1
Pacific (3-5) fell behind early to Seattle (5-5) after giving up seven runs in the second inning. Pacific would only manage a single hit from junior
Asia Lee to lead off the fourth inning but was kept quiet otherwise.
Freshman
Kiley Shea was Pacific's pitcher of record in the contest, taking the loss after giving up six runs in an inning and a third of work in the 9-0 loss – the decision is only her first loss of the season, she drops to 0-1.
GAME 2
A huge reversal of fortunes from game one, the Tigers got out the gate strong with two runs on RBI singles from both senior
Emma Dazell and freshman
Jayleen Scott to give the team an early 2-0 lead.
CSUN (2-7) countered with runs in the second, third and fourth innings to take a 6-2 lead when the floodgates opened for the Tiger offense.
The combo of Dazell and Scott once again proved the catalyst for the Tiger attack as the former walked in a run and the latter singled in a run to cut CSUN's lead in half. Productive outs senior
Delaney Scully and junior
Jordan Hayes each brought in RBIs and eight batters later the Tigers had knotted the game at six runs each.
However, the team wasn't done. Another seven batters came to the plate in the sixth inning and yielded similar results to the fifth. Dazell, Scott and Scully again knocked in runs and junior Olivia
Silvestre got in on the action with an RBI double of her own to put Pacific ahead 10-6.
Two runs in the sixth and a homer in the seventh tied the game for CSUN but in the eighth Pacific regained its footing and plated the two winning runs off the bats of Scully and Hayes.
Hayes and Scully both finished their days 2-for-3 with three RBIs. However, they were not alone in the multi-hit department as Scott, Dazell, and senior
Emily Budelli all notched two hits and Silvestre paced the team with three. Silvestre and Budelli also each paced the team with three runs scored and junior
Allie Capello came around twice to score as well.
