NORTHRIDGE, Calif. – Pacific softball rallied to erase an early six-run deficit but conceded four subsequent runs to drop the 13-9 decision to the Seattle Redhawks Saturday afternoon from the Matador Diamond.
Junior
Allie Capello brought in Pacific's (2-4) first two runs of the game in the first inning with her second double in as many games. She then came around to score herself as freshman
Jayleen Scott forced a Redhawk error to make it 6-3.
Then came the third inning, which began with Pacific capitalizing on some Seattle (4-4) miscues. An error off a freshman
Presley Barnes double allowed a Tiger run to come around and then the very next batter a wild pitch brought in another run.
Scott manufactured a productive at bat to allow Barnes to score on an RBI groundout before junior
Jordan Hayes singled home Capello for the third run of the half inning. Senior
Kyla Eck subsequently scored Hayes with an RBI single of her own and then one final wild pitch brought home the final Pacific run of the afternoon.
In addition to their efforts knocking in runs, Barnes, Hayes, and Eck each notched multi-hit games with Eck's being her first of the season.
Barnes and
Allie Capello each also both scored two runs while senior
Emma Dazell followed up her five-RBI day with a 1-for-4 performance and two runs scored.
Pacific concludes the CSUN Matador Classic with two games tomorrow, beginning with a rematch with Seattle at 9 a.m. before going for a three game sweep of CSUN at 1 p.m. The game against CSUN will be broadcast on ESPN+.
