Pacific Hits the Road for Games at LMU, Oregon State

LOS ANGELES – Beginning a three-game road swing, the Pacific men's basketball program will head to LMU for a 7 p.m. game Thursday at Gersten Pavilion, followed by a 3 p.m. Saturday tip against Oregon State at Gill Coliseum.
 
The Tigers (8-19, 3-10 WCC) went 1-1 last week which included a 71-69 win over San Diego. It came on a game-winning lay-up by junior Lamar Washington with 12 seconds left, bundled with a last-second stop defensively. Washington tallied a game-high 19 points.
 
In Pacific's last outing, the Tigers put up a fight against Gonzaga but fell 78-61 at the Alex G. Spanos Center. Washington registered his second-highest scoring total of his career with 22 points and eight rebounds.
 
On the season, Pacific has been led by the Canadian duo of senior Elias Ralph and junior Elijah Fisher, who both score over 15 points per game with 15.9 and 15.5 points per outing, respectively. Fisher has scored in double-figures in 25 of 27 games on the year and in conference he averages 15.8 points per game and is shooting .518 from the field.
 
Ralph is the team's leading rebounder with 7.3 per game and has tallied eight double-doubles, which ranks 36th in the country. Ralph ranks top-five in the WCC in offensive rebounding (2.4 orpg) and field goal percentage (.486).
 
Washington ranks eighth in the nation in total assists (158) and 23rd in assists per game (5.9). He also scores in double-figures with 13.0 points per game and has hit the game-winner in two of Pacific's three WCC wins.
 
Pacific will look to avenge a close 73-68 defeat from the first meeting this year against LMU (15-10, 7-6 WCC) on Jan. 23 at home. Ralph tallied 20 points and 17 rebounds in the game, while Fisher ended with 21 points and seven rebounds.
 
The Tigers will also be out for vengeance against Oregon State (17-8, 7-5 WCC) after falling 91-55 in the first game this season. Washington scored a team-high 13 points in the affair, but the Beavers were 31-of-32 (.969) from the free throw line and shot .565 from the field and .400 from three-point range.
 
Pacific will wrap-up the three-game road trip next Thursday at 7 p.m. at San Francisco. The next home game is Saturday, Feb. 22 when the Tigers host Portland at 4 p.m.
 
NOTES
- Pacific's last road win at LMU came on Feb. 27, 2020 in a 60-53 decision. In that outing, Amari McCray came off the bench to tally 19 points, eight rebounds and two blocks and was 8-of-11 from the field.
 
- Pacific is 2-2 all-time against Oregon State and will play just its second-ever road game in the series, with the first coming on Dec. 1, 1992.
 
- The Tigers have already surpassed their season win total by two games and conference win total by three games from last year.
 
- Pacific is 3-1 in conference games decided by three points or less.
 
- In all eight of Pacific's wins this year, the team has outscored the opposition in the paint.
 
- Fisher ranks 11th in the nation in free throw attempts with 177 and 15th in free throws made with 130. He's played 40 minutes four times.
 
- Pacific swept the season series over Washington State. In the second game, sophomore Jazz Gardner hit a go-ahead bucket with 5.1 seconds left in the 70-68 win. Gardner was 7-of-7 from the field, while Ralph recorded a game-high 18 points to go along with eight rebounds and two blocks. The Tigers outrebounded the Cougars 34-24 and held a 32-24 edge in paint scoring.
 
- In the first win over WSU, Washington turned in a heroic 40-point effort which included a game-winning three at the buzzer in overtime. Washington played all 45 minutes and was a whopping 16-of-22 from the field and 4-of-6 from three. He went on to win WCC Player of the Week honors, the first for Pacific since Keylan Boone on Jan. 9, 2023, over two years prior. Washington averaged 26.5 points and 4.5 rebounds per game on the week which also included a double-figure outing against Oregon State.
