WBB Preview vs. Seattle and San Diego 2025

Women’s Basketball Opens WCC Play with Pair of Home Games

STOCKTON, Calif. – The Pacific women's basketball program gets to be the first to welcome newcomer Seattle to the West Coast Conference when the Tigers host the Redhawks on Sunday at 1 p.m. at the Alex G. Spanos Center followed by a home bout with San Diego on Tuesday at 2 p.m. to round out 2025.

Sunday's matchup is only the fifth meeting all-time between Pacific (5-6) and Seattle (4-7) with the Tigers taking all four previous meeting, three of which took place in Stockton. Coming into conference play, sophomore Winner Bartholomew has been on a tear for the Tigers averaging 14.2 points per game over the last five and leads the team in scoring on the season at 13.1 points per game.

Fellow sophomore Daria Nestorov has vaulted herself into the top three of assists per game in the conference thanks to a five-game stretch in which she has facilitated 30 assists and only nine turnovers. Against Simpson on Education Day the sophomore dished out a career-high eight assists. Nestorov has picked up scoring as well, complimenting Bartholomew to the tune of 11.6 points per game over the last five highlighted by a career-best 18 against Sacramento State.

Coming into the matchup Seattle sports the second scoring defense in the conference, conceding 71.9 points per game and Pacific over the last five has averaged 67.6 points per game against non-power four, division one competition.

Under Head Coach Bradley Davis, Pacific is 5-5 all-time in conference openers and has opened the last two WCC campaigns with a victory.

Tuesday's matchup brings the Tigers and Toreros (6-7) together on the hard wood for the first time since Pacific eliminated USD from the WCC Tourney last season. Despite a 24-16 San Diego advantage in the all-time series, the recent history has been dominated by the Tigers who have won six of the past eight dating back to 2023.

Junior Nyah Lowery has provided a scoring jolt to the Pacific starting lineup, averaging 8.5 points per game since entering the starting five against Sacramento State and has shown an ability to get it done on the boards as a guard averaging 4.8 rebounds per game.

On the second unit, freshman Sophia Mindermann is cementing herself as one of the premier snipers of the conference, entering conference play ranked eighth in the WCC in three-pointers per game, averaging 1.8. That has translated to the freshman being on pace to be the fourth highest scoring true freshman of the Davis era, trailing only Elizabeth Elliott, Anaya James, and Brooklyn McDavid.

Both Seattle and San Diego were picked to finish at the bottom of the WCC with Seattle slated last and San Diego right in front at 11th. Both games will be streamed on ESPN+.
