Men’s Basketball Travels for Mid-Week Battle at Air Force

USAFA, Colo. – Riding a three-game winning streak, the Pacific men's basketball program will take the show on the road Wednesday for a 6 p.m. (PT) game against Air Force at Clune Arena.
 
The Tigers (6-2) have held the opposition to under 60 points in three consecutive contests after beating Stony Brook 86-58, Jacksonville 68-53 and Sacramento State 68-54. Pacific is 7-0 under head coach Dave Smart in two seasons when holding the opposition to under 60 points.
 
The initial NCAA NET rankings were released Monday and the Tigers were ranked No. 81, fourth-highest in the WCC behind No. 5 Gonzaga, No. 29 Saint Mary's and No. 32 Santa Clara. Air Force (3-6) is ranked No. 286. The Tigers have key upcoming opportunities against No. 52 California on Dec. 6 and No. 13 BYU on Dec. 16.
 
Pacific is coming off a Saturday win over Sacramento State. Senior Elias Ralph netted a season-high 22 points to go along with eight rebounds, four assists and three steals. The Tigers never trailed in the second half.
 
Ralph, a WCC Preseason All-Conference Team selection, averages team-highs of 16.6 points, 6.8 rebounds and 1.3 blocks per game. He leads the WCC and ranks 13th nationally in minutes (35.5 mpg) and is shooting .483 (14-29) from long range.
 
Senior Jaden Clayton ranks second in the WCC in assists with 5.9 per game. He dished out a season-high 11 at Nevada and distributed nine in his last outing against Sacramento State. Clayton is third on the team in scoring with 8.4 points per game.
 
Senior TJ Wainwright averages in double-figures with 12.1 points per game. Wainwright drained 20 points on 9-of-15 shooting in the team's 85-73 road win at Cal State Fullerton.
 
Pacific's two big men, seniors KC Ibekwe and Isaac Jack, are a combined 45-of-58 (.776) from the field. Jack has scored at least 10 points in three of the last four games. Ibekwe was 8-of-8 from the floor over the two games against Stony Brook and Jacksonville.
 
Air Force has wins over Alabama State 66-64, SIU Edwardsville 77-63 and IU Indy 98-85. The squad uses a balanced scoring attack with four student-athletes scoring in double-figures including Caleb Walker with 12.6 points and 5.4 rebounds per game.
 
The match-up can be watched live for free on the Mountain West Network and can be heard on Fox Sports AM 1280 with Zack Bayrouty on the call.
 
The next home game is Saturday, Dec. 13 at 4 p.m. against Simpson University at the Alex G. Spanos Center. The Tigers are 3-0 at home this season.
 
NOTES
- Pacific is 2-0 all-time against Air Force with the last meeting being an 82-69 home win on Dec. 1, 2018. The Tigers beat Air Force on the road 83-71 the year prior on Nov. 21, 2017.
 
- Pacific ranks second in the WCC in field goal percentage defense (.385) and third in scoring defense (65.0 ppg).
 
- With a 6-2 record, Pacific is off to its best start through eight games since 2013-14 when the team began 7-1 (and 8-1 through nine games).
 
- Pacific's winning-streak began in Daytona Beach, Florida when they Tigers won the GEIC Sunshine Slam Ocean Bracket. Ralph was named the MVP of the bracket. The tournament was Pacific's first-ever trip to the state of Florida as a program.
