STOCKTON, Calif. – The Pacific volleyball program plays one its final two home matches of the season on Thursday at 6 p.m. when the Tigers host Seattle in the second annual Military Appreciation game before heading on the road for a rematch with Santa Clara on Saturday at 1 p.m.
Against the Redhawks (6-15, 0-10 WCC), the Tigers (7-15, 1-10 WCC) sport a perfect 3-0 record split evenly between home, away and neutral venues. The last time Seattle visited Stockton was in 2011 where Pacific clamped down defensively and held its opposition to a sub-.100 hitting percentage and two sets decided by more than ten points (12 points in set one and 13 in set three) in a 3-0 victory.
Flash forward 14 years and the Tigers will need big performances from their leaders offensively to replicate that win. Graduate
Olivia Keller swung for 13 kills in the last match on a season best hitting percentage, .346. Freshman
Mazi Smith reached the 100-kill milestone over the weekend while reaching double digit kills for the second time in her career.
Meanwhile on Saturday the team's mission will be reversing the fortunes from the last meeting where Pacific suffered a 3-0 defeat by a combined nine points. During that match, Keller posted a double-double of 13 kills and 12 digs. Sophomore
Alessia Couchond handled the setting duties in that match and tied her conference-high 31 assists.
Despite the setback to the Broncos (12-9, 7-3 WCC), the Tigers still hold a 40-17 advantage all-time and a 16-9 lead on Santa Clara's home court.
Both matches will be streamed on ESPN+.
