STOCKTON, Calif. – Helping defend the West Coast Conference Regular Season Championship, freshman Petar Popovic from the No. 8 Pacific men's water polo program was named the WCC Player of the Week winner.
 
Popovic registered three goals and three assists for the Tigers in their 14-11 victory over No. 12 Cal Baptist on Sunday. The win clinched the program's second consecutive WCC Regular Season crown.
 
Popovic, from Herceg Novi, Montenegro, scored the first goal of the game which helped Pacific never trail in the contest. It was his third hat trick of the season as he's up to 24 goals.
 
Pacific has won eight WCC weekly awards this year as a team, all from freshmen.
 
Popovic and the Tigers will conclude the regular season this weekend with non-conference road games against No. 2 UCLA at 5 p.m. Friday and No. 3 Stanford at 1 p.m. Sunday.
