STOCKTON, Calif. – Behind a flurry of three-pointers and free-throws, the Pacific women's basketball team took a wire-to-wire victory from Milwaukee 77-48 on Friday afternoon in game one of the Tiger Turkey Tipoff at the Alex G. Spanos Center.
Pacific (2-4) led for all but 14 seconds of the game after sophomore
Winner Bartholomew put in the game's opening bucket. From there, the Tigers bench took over and poured in eight of the 11 three-pointers the team hit during the afternoon. Led by freshman
Sophia Mindermann's three three-pointers, two more student-athletes hit multiple threes in junior
Nyah Lowery (2-for-4) and senior
Luisa Anderegg (2-for-3).
The latter of which exploded for ten points (4-for-5 field goals) off the bench, more than doubling her previous career-high scoring in a Pacific uniform.
As a team, Pacific shot 11-for-28 from beyond the arc, marking the first time since the 2022-23 season that the Tigers have multiple games hitting ten or more three-pointers in a single season.
However, while Anderegg was an excellent complimentary piece scoring, the duo of sophomore
Winner Bartholomew and senior
Sydney Ward were the primary focuses of the offense. The former, despite playing only 16 minutes and 35 seconds, efficiently racked up a game-high 17 points on 5-for-8 shooting from the floor and 7-for-8 from the free-throw line. Bartholomew was also the game's leading rebounder with seven rebounds split between four offensive boards and three defensive.
Ward meanwhile finished with 16 points through a combination of four field goals (4-for-7), a three-pointer (1-for-2) and seven free throws (7-for-7). But the highlight of her day was not on the offensive end, but rather the defensive. She tallied a block, giving her her 72nd career block and taking sole possession of tenth place on the program's all-time block list. She is the first entrant on that list since Valerie Higgins (2018-21). The rest of her final line included a steal, five rebounds and a final plus/minus of +32.
The Tigers at the free throw line the past three games have been near automatic, shooting 88.5% as a team after going 18-for-19 from the line today.
Pacific closes the Tiger Turkey Tipoff, and the month of November, tomorrow against Jacksonville State, who took a defeat to UC Davis earlier in the day. Tipoff from the Spanos Center is set for 3:30 p.m. on ESPN+.
