VB Preview at San Diego / LMU 2025

Final Week of Volleyball Season Sees Pacific on Road

SAN DIEGO, Calif. – Pacific has two remaining contests in the 2025 season and will play those matches on the road, facing San Diego tomorrow at 6 p.m. at the Jenny Craig Pavilion and then play again after Thanksgiving on Saturday at 1 p.m. against LMU at Gersten Pavilion.

The Tigers (8-19, 2-14 WCC) have an opportunity to spoil San Diego's (23-0, 16-4 WCC) bid for a perfect conference slate and end the Toreros' 16-game winning streak. For that to happen, graduate Olivia Keller will need to replicate her performance from last time out where she tallied 18 kills against San Francisco – her second-best outing of the conference slate. Keller has been one of the top offensive options in the WCC during conference play, tying for seventh in kills per set at 3.30.

Following her 50-assist outburst, sophomore Alessia Couchond broke back into the top ten in assists per set, raising her average to 5.98/set against WCC opponents. A Tigers win would be the first road victory against San Diego in the all-time series history.

The team has an opportunity to make history when the team takes on LMU (5-20, 3-13 WCC) on Saturday as a Tigers win would mean the first season sweep of the Lions since 2016. In more recent history, Pacific will be looking to snap a three-match slide playing at Gersten Pavilion and notch the first win there since 2021.

Keller was Pacific's featured student-athlete in this season's previous match-up, going for a 19 kill-13 dig double-double in the four-set win. Despite splitting time as the Tigers' primary setter in that meeting, Couchond was similarly effective with 31 assists and dominated from the service line with four aces.

Pacific was buoyed by a big block as well, getting multiple solo blocks from both senior Logan Blutreich and graduate Valentina Varani along with 11 block assists from six Tigers. Varani will be the one to watch as she enters the week with 98 total blocks.

The 79 digs Pacific tallied remains its season high and saw double digit efforts from five Tigers led by senior Jayhlin Swain's 17.

Both matches can be seen on ESPN+.
