Men’s Basketball Brings In Long Beach State for Second Home Game of Season

STOCKTON, Calif. – A mid-week home match-up features the Pacific men's basketball program hosting Long Beach State at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Alex G. Spanos Center.

It's the Beach's (0-2) first trip to Stockton since the Tigers (1-1) won 74-68 on Dec. 10, 2018. The two teams used to compete against each other in the Big West Conference before Pacific departed for the West Coast Conference at the end of 2012-13.

Senior TJ Wainwright transferred from LBSU where he was second on the team in scoring with 13.4 points per game last season. Wainwright currently averages 15.5 points per outing so far for the Tigers.

Pacific is looking to shake-off a tough 78-77 nail-biting defeat at Nevada over the weekend. The Tigers had two looks at the rim in closing seconds but couldn't get one to go as the buzzer sounded.

Senior Elias Ralph, who was named to the WCC Preseason All-Conference Team, has stood out for the Tigers through two games. He's averaging 20.5 points, 7.5 rebounds and 2.5 blocks per game while shooting .520 (13-25) from the floor and .643 (9-14) from three-point range. Ralph has started the year with back-to-back 20-plus scoring games.

Through two games, senior Jaden Clayton ranks top-five in the nation in assists per game with 9.5. He dished out 11 Saturday at Nevada, which matched his career-high from Maine where he transferred from.

The Beach are looking to snap a 17-game skid dating back to last season. They are playing their third of a three-game road swing to begin the season and fell 77-45 to San Diego State and 82-62 to Fresno State. Petar Majstorovic leads the team with 11.0 points and 8.0 rebounds per game.

Wednesday's game can be watched on ESPN+ with Zack Bayrouty and Kat Tudor on the call. It can be heard for free on Fox Sports AM 1280 with Dennis Ackerman as the voice.
