SEATTLE, Wash. – The Pacific men's soccer program heads north to face Seattle for the first time as a member of the West Coast Conference, clashing at 7 p.m. on Saturday at Championship Field.
The Tigers (2-7, 0-1 WCC) opened conference play with a 3-0 setback against LMU at home and look to right the ship on the road against the Redhawks (2-3-4, 0-0-1 WCC).
Pacific's offensive drives through the strong midfield performances by senior
Luca Baltzer. The WCC preseason member leads the Tigers with two goals, five points and 13 shot attempts in eight games.
Four more Tigers have each scored a goal, including newcomers
Muharif Abdul-Kadir and
Josephat Yangyuoru. Abdul-Kadir tallied his first career goal in a 2-1 victory at UC Davis while Yangyuoru did the same in a 2-1 win against Utah Tech in the home opener.
Junior
Mateus Ruiz-Hurst sports 2.22 goals against average and has made 32 saves in all nine contests for the Tigers. His 3.56 saves per game rank third among qualified WCC goalkeeper.
Seattle started its first-ever WCC slate with a 1-1 draw at Saint Mary's. The Redhawks have a common victory in defeating UC Davis earlier in the season during non-conference play. Seattle won that contest by a 4-0 margin in Davis, California.
One Seattle player to keep an eye on is Yeider Zuluaga, who paces the Redhawk offense with five goals and five assists in nine starts. Zuluaga also has taken the most shot attempts for Seattle with 21 (11 on target) to his name.
In goal, Charlie Lanphier owns a 1.89 goals against average with 37 saves under his belt.
Pacific and Seattle will meet for the first time in their respective program histories as the two clash in a conference duel.
Saturday's match can be viewed live on ESPN+ with a 7 p.m. kick-off scheduled.
