PULLMAN, Wash. – The Pacific volleyball program continues a spell of conference opponents it only sees once during the season, first traveling to Bohler Gym on Thursday to face Washington State before heading to Spokane to face Gonzaga on Saturday in the Charlotte Y. Martin Centre.
Coming into the match, senior
Logan Blutreich will look to continue her hot streak offensively as she has reached double digit kills in three of the past five matches and hit over .250 from the court in four out of five. The 6-2 senior has also been a solid option for the Tigers (7-13, 1-8 WCC) defensively as well as she's gone for three or more blocks three times in the past five matches, highlighted by a three solo block performance last time out against Pepperdine.
Another player to watch for Pacific is freshman
Ella Gridley who gave the team three service aces and four digs in her collegiate debut last time out. Against Washington State (12-7, 6-3 WCC), the series history is a small sample size, Thursday's match will only be the seventh all-time meeting, but the previous six have favored the Tigers 4-2.
By contrast, the series history against Gonzaga (11-9, 4-5 WCC) has been dominated by Pacific with a 21-5 advantage and a current nine-match winning streak. Trips to the Martin Centre have historically been clean matches for Pacific, taking the last five matches in four sets and have not lost in Spokane since 2017.
During last season's trip to Gonzaga, senior
Jayhlin Swain posted her career-high 27 dig performance. If she can accumulate 200 more digs over the final nine matches of the season, she will have reached the 1,000-dig mark at Pacific in just two seasons of work – Swain currently sits at 1,087 career digs between her time here and at Michigan State.
First ball from Bohler Gym is slated for 7 p.m. while first ball from the Martin Centre is set for noon. Both matches can be seen on ESPN+.
