STOCKTON, Calif. – Entering the second half of WCC play, the Pacific men's soccer program hosts Gonzaga at 7 p.m. on Saturday at Knoles Field.
The Tigers (3-10, 1-4 WCC) are coming off a tough defeat to the hands of No. 4 Portland last time out but look to get back on track against the Bulldogs (3-6-3, 0-3-2 WCC).
Senior and captain
Luca Baltzer paces the Pacific offense with three goals and eight points through 12 games. Baltzer has also connected on 16 shot attempts and nine shots on goal – which both rank second on the team.
Sophomore
Ezekiel Padilla leads in the shot category with 23 attempts. Padilla registered his first goal of the season in the effort against the Pilots last match.
Defensively, junior
Milo Risenhoover has started the last three matches for the Tigers, owning a 2.20 goals against average and a .650 save percentage. Risenhoover earned his first clean sheet as a Tiger in the 1-0 win over the Gaels on Oct. 11.
Gonzaga enters the competition also with three wins on the year – all of which came during the non-conference slate against Incarnate Word, Oregon Tech and Cal State Bakersfield. Most recently in WCC play.
Drew Pedersen netted a hat trick last time out for the Bulldogs against the Beavers, presenting himself as the new team leader in goals (4) and points (12). Chema Preciado has started every game for Gonzaga in goal, sporting a 2.02 goals against average with 48 saves.
Pacific has had the recent success in the series history with Gonzaga, winning four straight and six of its last seven contests in the head-to-head match-up. Last year in Spokane, senior
Jose Maria Barrera recorded his first career multi-point performance with a game-winning goal and an assist in the effort. The Tigers have outscored the Bulldogs 10-3 in the last four matches and own a 6-4-1 record since 2014 against them.
